The Wave Organ is located in
San Francisco on the end of a jetty just east of the Golden Gate Yacht Club. It was completed in 1986 as a
project of the Exploratorium.
It is best to visit the Wave Organ during high tide and when the bay waters are active. The sounds the Wave Organ produces are subtle, relax and listen
closely.
Part of the Wave Organ was assembled from rubble from San Franciscos razed Laurel Hill Cemetery,
old granite curbs from city sidewalks, and other scrap stone. (The evicted thirty-five thousand once buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery were re-interred
at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma, California.)
